Furlough Brothers found new opportunities in the height of the pandemic. These hospitality vets were able to transform from furlough to success by building their cheesesteak brand with ghost kitchens. Furlough Brothers is owned by Michael Youssef and Sam Kaiser, who both bring a diverse background in the hospitality industry. The Furlough Brothers menu features traditional cheesesteaks as well as their own twists on classic dishes such as an Al Pastor Sandwich, Bulgogi Bowl, and their own twist on a classic Cobb Salad.
Before Michael and Sam created Furlough Brothers with CloudKitchens, they struggled deciding their next move after both being furloughed in the hospitality industry due to COVID-19. They always wanted to create something of their own, and that's where Furlough Brothers was born. They were able to get started much faster in a ghost kitchen than they would have with a traditional brick and mortar. Here's what Michael and Sam have to say about their CloudKitchens experience and why they recommend partnering with us:
Q: Why did you join CloudKitchens?
A: Shortly after being furloughed in the hospitality industry due to the pandemic, we wanted to start our very own restaurant brand with lower overhead, and we learned that ghost kitchens were the best alternative for growing our business faster than with a traditional brick and mortar.
Q: How has your business grown since starting with CloudKitchens?
A: Our brands have continued to grow over time and are becoming more and more recognized in our area. CloudKitchens has provided the tools we need to create food we love, and the best part is that we get to share it with our amazing customers.
Q: What was life like before CloudKitchens? What is it like now?
A: Before the pandemic, we worked for high end hotels, and were able to gain a lot of experience through our careers to apply to our current business. It's been busy and stressful, but rewarding, and we now have something we can call our very own.
Q: Would you recommend CloudKitchens to others in the restaurant industry? Why?
A: Yes, absolutely. You can generate a lot of orders out of one single kitchen with just a few people. It's a good way to start your delivery business.
Furlough Brothers has been able to grow their restaurant brand faster by expanding to new locations through delivery. Now they're in growth mode, focusing on where they'd love to expand to next with their beloved cheesesteak brand.
