What is CloudKitchens?

CloudKitchens is a commercial real estate and technology company providing restaurateurs with ghost kitchens optimized for maximum delivery efficiency. Each kitchen space has the basic equipment needed to start a delivery business in weeks with less capital than a brick and mortar. CloudKitchens provides onsite delivery support, cleaning, maintenance, security, logistics, and fulfillment to ensure each order is delivered on time. Restaurateurs are able to manage each incoming delivery order on one single tablet, to streamline efficiency and maximize delivery growth.

How does CloudKitchens work?

In a matter of weeks, we’ll help you set up your CloudKitchens ghost kitchen, which serves as a private space for your food delivery endeavor (though you can run multiple brands from your space if you want). Once you’ve perfected your menu, our onsite team will offer you logistical support and order fulfillment services. You and your small team of cooks (around four employees) will take online orders and fill them without worrying about the technical details. You’ll be able to easily manage it all from one single tablet, which comes equipped with our proprietary operations system.

How much does it cost to get started with CloudKitchens?

The cost of ghost kitchens varies by market, space, and services. Compared to a traditional restaurant, they’re a much lower cost alternative on both upfront capital and ongoing operating costs. You can get started in a ghost kitchen with as little as $30K, instead of $1M+ for brick and mortar buildout.

Who does CloudKitchens partner with?

CloudKitchens partners with restaurateurs across the industry, including entrepreneurs, food trucks, national franchises, and local restaurants.

How does CloudKitchens help your restaurant grow?

Ghost kitchens help restaurateurs grow their business by doing delivery right. The way we dine has changed, and ghost kitchens allow restaurant operators to capture food delivery demand without sacrificing their bottom line. They’re also a great way to expand to new markets without spending time and money on a traditional restaurant buildout. You can easily expand your restaurant brand to different cities across the country such as Los Angeles or New York.

Are CloudKitchens locations profitable?

Virtual kitchens and ghost kitchens have the potential to be highly profitable thanks to the projected value of the delivery industry and the cost-cutting nature of the model. CloudKitchens offers the easiest, most efficient way to join the ranks of other entrepreneurs, restauranteurs, chefs, and creatives diving into delivery-only ventures.

What is the average size of a CloudKitchens location?

CloudKitchens facilities average about 200 square feet—the perfect size for preparing delivery-only cuisine. Since you’re only paying for your kitchen space, costs stay low, and potential profits go up.

What is the difference between a virtual kitchen and a ghost kitchen?

While it’s not uncommon for “virtual kitchen” and “ghost kitchen” to be used interchangeably, you might think of the two delivery-only concepts like this:

  • Virtual kitchen usually refers to a delivery-only brand that runs out of an existing brick-and-mortar restaurant under a different name.
  • Ghost kitchen usually refers to a dark kitchen, or a kitchen space without an associated dining room that only makes food for delivery, sometimes for multiple brands.

Want to innovate your restaurant business but don’t know which endeavor is right? Just reach out—we can help you navigate the next steps.

What is a commercial kitchen?

A commercial kitchen is a professional-grade kitchen that can be rented out on a short-term basis, either by one leasee or a handful of businesses. CloudKitchens ghost kitchens operate on a long-term basis and are sold to hungry restaurateurs.

How do shared kitchens work?

The term “shared kitchen” usually refers to a commercial kitchen that is rented out to multiple vendors on a come-and-go, short-term basis. Shared kitchens are used by all kinds of food industry operations, from caterers to food truck owners. Shared kitchens differ from ghost kitchens and serve a distinct purpose and clientele.

Are shared kitchens worth it?

A shared kitchen might be an excellent option for a culinary endeavor, depending on the type of business you’re trying to run. Suppose you’re looking to open a delivery-only kitchen. In that case, you’d be better served by a CloudKitchens ghost kitchen—a private, professionally maintained, and fully permitted kitchen devoted to your virtual business only.

What makes an industrial kitchen?

An industrial kitchen is any kitchen space built to serve commercial purposes. Brick-and-mortar restaurants have industrial kitchens, as do convention centers, hotels, and dedicated kitchen facilities like CloudKitchens.
